Life Guidance That's Tailored For You
The Take the Highway System works because you're in the driver's seat! I explain the psychology behind creating new habits to help you set yourself up for success and gain more self-understanding. The interactive exercises throughout the program help to keep you on track and bring an element of supportive mindfulness to your day as your habits and motivations begin to shift.

How the program
is structured
The Take the Highway program is founded on the Balance Wheel. The Balance Wheel is the Coaching Tool that helps us focus on what is important to us. Not what the media is telling us, nor what incessant ads are wanting us to buy; nothing that is outside of our personal ideals. It is our steering wheel directing us toward personal balance and fulfilment.
You’ll notice there are eight pie-shaped pieces of the wheel that I’ve designated for each month. Over the year, we are to take a month for each habit that pertains to that piece. The habit will be a bottom-line priority for our well-being and will keep us in check, even when we’re busy.
JANUARY
Hydration
Drinking water is THE most important thing we do each day. Our bodies are constantly using it up, so realizing that hydration is really about rehydrating makes the message quite clear. Our entire body needs it to function properly, so it is the strongest vote for our health and vitality. HABIT No. 1 - 8, 8-oz glasses of water per day!
FEBRUARY
Fitness
'Use it or lose it' is my motivation this month. Exercise is not that difficult, but it takes making it a priority. Stretching, walking, going to the gym, playing sports, hiking, or jogging can make the days a little more adventurous and even social if you can gather some accomplices. HABIT No. 2 - 30 minutes of exercise, 3 times per week!
MARCH
Nutrition
Nutrition is just as much about calories as satisfaction, and eating healthy does not guarantee a slim physique. Energy management is the trick to master this month so it becomes a balance between our attitude and functioning. What are we willing to make that will help us feel good in our own bodies? HABIT No. 3 - Listen to our body!
APRIL
Sleep
Fatigue is a way that our body talks to us. If we are drinking enough water, getting exercise, eating well and we are still tired, guess what? It's time for a nap. Everything is harder in life if we're tired and life is too short not to enjoy. HABIT No. 4 - Get enough sleep!
MAY
Savings
Living costs money, we all know that, and once the money's gone, it's gone. One way to offset the Rat Race is to tuck a little away to make it known to ourselves that we ultimately control where our money goes. This month, we are to set up an account and decide how much to save. Let it grow into a vacation or car fund. Have fun with it. HABIT No. 5 – Save a minimum from each pay cheque!
JUNE
Self Care
This month is about going beyond the basics. It could be a massage, a movie night, a weekend away, or getting your nails done. What is one thing you can do each month that makes you feel taken care of? HABIT No. 6 - Make a self-care list!
JULY
Partner
Date nights can be difficult to fit in as life gets busy. They don't need to be extravagant or expensive, but they should be a regular check-in with each other. Also, making sure that we consider our partners' needs and wants every day makes for a flourishing and supportive relationship. HABIT No. 7—Think about what makes your partner happy and make time for them.
AUGUST
Family
Game nights, reunions, movies and meals...think of bringing the family together in a way that everyone can have a good time, or check in with each member individually. HABIT No. 8 – Work with the family dynamic!
SEPTEMBER
Friends
Phone calls, Facebook, Coffee dates etc... How much is too much? How much is not enough? Friendship is a lifeline and is amazing at filling the void our family can leave. Take note of your friendships and cultivate the best ones to bring more acceptance, joy and energy to your days. HABIT No. 9 – Be a good friend & require good friends!
OCTOBER
Personal Growth
Being open to feedback from family and friends can be hard, especially if we don't like the impressions we're getting. Remember to stay true to yourself as you navigate self awareness and finesse your personality to bond with others. HABIT No. 10 – Limit frustrations!
NOVEMBER
Spritual Growth
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control seem to be the constants in Spiritual Growth. Anything shy leaves us open to discussion for the Universe to conspire toward raising us up. HABIT No. 11 – Spiritual Awareness!
DECEMBER
Career Growth
A job is a means for making money whereas a career suggests purpose and fulfillment. It is possible to have it all but it takes making it a priority to bring it all together. Some long term planning may be required to help this piece fall into place. HABIT No.12 – Work on the next step only!
How to find your
Ultimate Life Balance
You need to know that Ultimate Life Balance is both an Inside and Outside job, but we have to sense it on the Inside predominantly. It feels peaceful, purposeful, grounded and positive. As you progress, you will notice that your chaos will take a back seat to your new purpose, peace will crowd out anxiety, and being grounded will help you stay positive because you have a direction and an action plan. Eventually, the Outside will follow suit and your balance will be a mutually supportive ecosystem with your inner and outer worlds being congruent.
Ironically, your intention will be focused on the habits employed to keep you balanced rather than balance itself. Levelling up within your habitual expertise each year will become a journey without a destination per se; it will be more like an adventure in seeing how far you can go.
Why did you name your Coaching Company Take The Highway?
Firstly because it felt rebellious. Coaches are not 'supposed' to be suggestive in any way, but I wanted to provide a feeling of confidence and security for my Clients. Being told to Take The Highway focusses our mind on a solid and direct route to our destination of choice.
Secondly, Highways wouldn't exist without ALL of the industries that contribute. It starts with a vision, a map, some dynamite, bulldozers, road crews, line painters, road signs, and pot hole fillers. There are no unnecessary roles in the making of a Highway, it requires a community of support. There are also very few effective or time saving short cuts. Everyone can relate to life as a journey when they think through planning a road trip. If we gave as much thought to our personal growth as we did planning a road trip, our lives would consistently get better and better over time.
Thirdly, being behind the wheel is my happy place. I love driving and am a very confident driver. I want to approach my business and Clients with that same effervessence. Confidence is contageous! It is also a life skill, to take from what we do well and apply that awareness to what we don't do well. That alone empowers us to highlight our personal responsibility and inspire holistic success. Which is what I ultimately want...for myself, and everyone else.
